About the Business

The business was set up by myself, Tony, back in 2010, and I operate as a sole trader. Before this I had worked as a Dog Warden for Leeds City Council for nearly seven years, handling thousands of dogs, from the vulnerable to the aggressive. Transporting dogs to kennels, assisting with Police incidents, microchipping dogs and advising irresponsible owners, were all part of daily duties. It was whilst undertaking this role that I rehomed my first dog, Jake. I had only been in the job five weeks when I found him in a terrible state roaming south Leeds. He became my best friend and lived with me and my family for a further 15 years. After two years as a Dog Warden we rehomed another stray, Josie, who was with us for a further 12 years. We now have another rescue dog, Luna, who is just over two years old, and an integral part of the family.

I decided to start the dog walking business so I could continue the privilege of working with dogs, in a playful enjoyable manner, and I haven't looked back since. I firmly believe that a well exercised and socialised dog is a happy dog. The service tries to ensure that dogs get the most from the walks. When they come out on the group walks it is their chance to stretch their legs, interact with other canines through play, and exploration - generally doing all the things they were designed to do. For these reasons I encourage dogs to be off lead (if permitted) for as much time as possible, in a safe and secure environment, where they can let off steam and hopefully tire themselves out.

I take pride in my job and that many of my customers started using my service after seeing me out walking dogs, or being recommended from another customer. I also hope that it is a testament to myself, and the quality service I offer, that most of my customers have been with me for many years, indeed some from the first year I started.

I have built up good relationships with many other local dog walking services over the last few years so if I am unable to accommodate your dog then hopefully I can recommend another trusted dog walker.  I remain committed and enthusiastic for a job I truly love, and feel lucky to enjoy the company of canines on a daily basis.... I  very much hope to be walking dogs for many more years to come!

Please note that up until 2017 the business traded as Man's Best Friend.
